The recent Daily News reports that show the overwhelmingly disparate impact of “broken windows” policing on Blacks and Latinos – even in communities where we don’t live – must be responded to by a collective of groups involved in police reform. One tactic must be a federal law suit similar to the challenge against stop and frisk that argues that this form of policing is, as practiced, a violation of both the constitutional and civil rights of New York Blacks and Latinos. The statistical evidence is overwhelming while the mayor defends Bratton and tells us don’t believe your eyes. Time for a united movement. Time for a law suit.
